SKULLSHIFTER has just put the finishing touches on a self-produced video for the previously released single 'Strain,' from the full length CD 'Inner Demons.' Strain presents a grim vision of the daily grind endured by anyone struggling to get by in today's workforce...where every day presents a new challenge to survive. The video captures the dark world of SKULLSHIFTER in conceptual and live performance, conceived and co-directed by Tom Nolz and photographer/cinematographer Jolene Oldham.
In the words of guitarist/vocalist Tom Nolz: "The creative process. It's not just a part of what we do...it's what we live for. Music...art...and now, video. No matter how we express our ideas and visions, it all comes down to the process. Time, commitment, energy and teamwork are all part of what it takes, and the band stepped up big to accomplish what we did with Strain."

Into the fray once again
Long awaited...much anticipated...way overdue...
...probably the last phrase describes it best. Because the way the (non-existent) 'scene' is now, it doesn't seem that there are many people out there who really care much, if at all, about bands in the 'up and coming' category. It was great to see the thrashers out in force at the recent Over Kill show, still showing support for the greatest thrash band EVER. But for those of us that haven't yet made it to that level, the climb seems to get more steep every day.
But SKULLSHIFTER remains undaunted. We are metal through-and-through, and we live and breathe it every minute of every day. Regardless of what obstacles life puts in our path, we soldier on...writing, performing and promoting the music we believe in as if our lives depended upon it. We know no other way.
Using these struggles as a source of inspiration, SKULLSHIFTER has just put the finishing touches on a brand new video for the appropriately titled song 'Strain.' Set for release near mid-January, the self-produced video is a new creative benchmark for the band, and we are damn proud of what we've been able to accomplish with zero budget and a lot of imagination.
Once everything is in place and ready to go, the video will be embedded on this page (provided all works as planned). It will also be available on our YouTube channel at http://youtube.com/SkullshifterNJ
After an uncharacteristically quiet 2010, SKULLSHIFTER is making plans for a loud return in 2011. Hope to see you in the new year.
